It’s interesting to me how two people can passionately have the same goal, but different ways of achieving it.
Thanos, for example, wanted the universe to be better for all and from researching he realized that the best, simplest, and least painful way to do it was by using the power of the stones.
Killmonger (and his father) wanted Black people all over the world to no longer be oppressed through the prison system, amongst other things happening in America today. So his plan was to send out weapons from Wakanda to all so that they would no longer be defenseless and be able to rise up.
Magneto was tired of seeing mutants being treated as second class citizens. Remember, his mother was killed in front of him as an experiment to force his hand and reveal his magnetic powers. For so long his ability was connected to anger and rage until Xavier took the time to help him find balance which ultimately made him more powerful.
The balance: anger, rage, and love made him more powerful.
We have seen each of these characters fail, but what I love about how their stories are told is that we can all understand their anger. We understand their goals. We understand why they choose to achieve their goals in the method they so choose.
It doesn’t mean we agree, but we do understand.
I ask you to consider these things as you watch what is happening right now and ask yourself how you can help those who are have been unheard for so long achieve their goals. “When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.” Prov 21:16
Makeup Details:
This is a mashup of Ororo Munroe and Black Panther. Fun fact: If you did not know, T’challa and Ororo were married at one point. So this would be how I would imagine Storm if she temporarily had to go into battle as the Black Panther. I was inspired and incorporated some makeup from the film designed by Joel Harlow and the costume designs of Ruth Carter for the mask.
